On second thought: I wonder whether one could 3D print something that's
analog to the center plastic thingy (see image link below) which holds
the gold contacts, but design it such that it could hold two PCB strips
(one for each side) of maybe 0,5mm width with gold pads in the card edge
formation matching the slot.
It's not completely like the real thing, as the gold pads don't stick
out from the surface, but better than nothing I guess...
Or if one feels a fumble rage, 3D print a plastic thingy which holds
tose 28(?) brass contacts, and you need to put them all in :-D If it
gets accurate & stable enough for that.
And then you ruin it when soldering, b/c the 3D printed plastic can't
withstand the temperature, heh...
That'd be a whole new area for me, never did any 3D printing. I hear
some affordable ones now work already when delivered, without it being
an insane time sink and hobby in its own right. At some point I'll "have
to" look at this, but I'd rather get my connector long before that, hehe.
