I found a YouTube video online, but it's 20 minutes long and involves a great deal of manual editing of the SPICE files just to get different libraries working in LTspice.

The pulse input to the counter was so dense that it slows down the whole user interface as it draw 5 seconds of clock waveform. Maybe my 2.3 GHz laptop isn't fast enough?

Ah I guess you'll be needing the symbol libraries as well. The LIB
file goes into
   \lib\sub
and the symbols go into
   \lib\sym\Digital\74HC

I am in the US this week on business and won't be back until the
weekend, so I'm (a) jetlagged, and (b) my install file archive is on
my lab machine at home.

For reference, I am running LTSpice on a Delorean slaptop with a 2.1
GigaMutz Dumbtel CoreBlimey Eye7 and it simulated reasonably ok for
me.
