[sdiy] Polyphony using per key oscillators

I wanted to know if anyone is building a polysynth with a per key 
oscillator arrangement.
I have about 30 sound chips from an old Mattel space ship toy and I was 
thinking it would be cool to do a 25 key synth with one chip per key. 
The chips make a sort-of droning engine sound as well as a laser gun 
sound. Currently they are on boards that use a silver ball switch to 
detect up and down tilt. the sound rises and falls accordingly.
