[sdiy] IDC, Pin Headers, Ribbon Wire: Where to start?

Yes - I'd like to know some of the differences - is there a good
reason to use IDC instead of micromatch? What about Molex? Can
crimping just be done with a vise or is it advisable to buy a tool?

I'm not too worried about other users making mistakes in their
Eurorack, since this is mainly for my private hobby. I think I'm
looking to arrive at a simple, cheap set of relatively fail-safe
materials for doing this..
