You could key the connector by going to the next size (that
would be 14-way), removing one or two pins from the headers and
plugging the corresponding contacts in the female connectors.

To remove a pin, heat the PCB end with the soldering iron until
the plastic around it softens and pull it out with pliers from
the other end.
