Hi!
The know looks very nice for the first try!
regarding 3D printing in general:
Printing plastic parts for the household also makes your wife happy. :-)
I printed some replacement parts like balcony door handle, screw caps for the shower wall and so on.
Slider caps for the DX7 should be possible. Normally 2 to 3 runs are necessary for optimization so that parts sit correctly. It is important which material you will you for printing. PLA is easy to print but will break after some months or years. ABS needs a printer with heated bed (especially cheap printer miss bed heating). But there are also some materials that have the same stability and features as ABS but don't need a heated bed (PETG or GreenTec from Extrudr).
I bought one of the cheap but very nice quality printing Flashforge Finder printers. Cost about 500€ and can print up to 140x140x140mm. I can really recommend that printer (use it at work and also have the same in the company I am working for - for prototyping and apprentice teaching).
If you only need a printer for very small parts (80x80x80mm) there is a small and cheap printer on Indiegogo.

Very cool! I could use a DX7 volume slider knob. I think you could sell
a few of those. I've been hoping to meet someone local to duplicate
some plastic part for the household. All I've managed so far is to meet
someone that will sell me a course in 3D design.
