Be sure to use a double sided board if you plan to do that.
For a single sided board, I use dichloromethane and methanol to remove the
epoxy from the foil layer.
Scan the foil, map all the component pin locations, then cut every track
between the component pins.
Work across the board with LCR meter and semiconductor analyser, and some
hours later, you're onto schematic capture.
It would be much harder to non-destructively isolate all the components for
analysis on a 2 layer board.
