Back in the 80s, Doug had a shipment of tens of thousands of 3340s
ready to go to Roland when they abruptly cancelled the order and
replaced the 3340 with a VCO-on-a-chip of their own design.

So yeah I don't blame Curtis for their reluctance.  Tens of thousands
of ICs looking for a home is a hell of a financial strain.
