It's mostly due to Vectors standard rail lengths. A buddy of mine Rodent516
on instagram has a wall of modules with that width. He had to custom order
all the rails. $$$
If you want to get a custom built skiff it can be done. Skiffs are mostly
designed to be portable, move from desk to desk. Cable length isn't really
an issue, just need to buy longer lengths.
I ordered some standard 60" rails to chop in half to do something similar
to your idea, but for me this rack will be below an ARP 2600.
