That's interesting indeed.

One book I enjoyed about User Interface design is Front Panel by Niall 
Murphy.  It's not about music gear, or about Industrial Design, but 
about general UI issues for embedded design and the code that makes it 
go.  It's an old book now, but I still see the same mistakes made over 
and over again by UI's I run into, including, but not limited to 
Android. Any time I run into a menuing system where I can't tell where I 
am I think of this book.  Niall's moved on to IoT work, but I'm sure 
he's quite annoyed at how Apple, Google and others (including my bank 
website) have shunned intuitiveness and simple hierarchy and instead 
gone with monochrome, low contrast, low feedback, no-idea-where-you-are 
user interfaces.
