I have the full license for Eagle 7.7 schematic and layout but to date
it has not cost me anything near the $500 per year that Autodesk is
now asking which is why I am considering the options. But I may yet
end up staying with Eagle. At least there are alternatives to
investigate!

I used Protel in the past but ended up with Eagle as the full version of Altium priced itself out of contention. I would be interested to hear what other Eagle users are doing.
