That company is located in our little town, been chatting with some of
their staff sometime ago when they were prototyping active studio
monitors. These days they have one of the best room correction
equipment for subwoofers (the product is known as "Anti-mode"):

They have beend developing a new version Anti-Mode for years,seen the
prototype, they used several of those VS chips there with Buww-Brown
24-bit converters (PCM1794A).

Their newest chip VS1010  is an improved version ofthe VS1053:

Guess you could implement a soft mellotrone easily using the SD card interface.
