This brings up an interesting point - if you read zeptobars.com, you'll
quickly learn that there really *are* no discrete transistors as such
anymore, and there haven't been for decades.  When you buy a 2N3904 or
similar, you are really buying a very small IC that happens to have just
one transistor on it.  It takes an audiophile to decide that that is a
bad thing.
