[sdiy] Discrete Op Amps

What's the point of a discrete op amp these days? If you want color you
can get that a thousand different ways. Isn't the point of op amps the
"operation" aspect anyway? The flavor is a byproduct of the limitations
of the fabrication process and the design limitations imposed by those.
I don't know of anyone hawking the sound characteristics of a discrete
op amp, yet I am sure they are out there.

I have some discrete op amps used in ancient naval computers. Never
tried to fire them up.
