I always pay a local assembly shop - PCA Corp or Schippers - to do all the soldering (through-hole and surface mount) for me. They clean the boards first. I still try not to handle the boards too much before handing them over, because fingerprints can add oil to the surface that will cause problems. Part of the benefit of paying for assembly is that you don't have to deal with potentially hazardous materials.
