I have to say, it looks a bit brutal, what it does to the wood. Can't I 
splice the wood with that, if it happens to have "grown the wrong way" 
at the particular place where this would be hammered in? Precisely 
sawing a piece of wood, sand it and then trash it, I assume that would 
be a rather... shall we say... disappointing experience :-D

But thanks, now this kind of thing is on my radar, I had never heard of 
that.
