"A shame" doesn't seem like cursing the darkness :)

And I have no illusions of having even half the business sense necessary to
make such an enterprise fly.  Honestly, I do think I understand the
economic pressures that have led us here, which is why it's "a shame"
rather than "I don't know why...".
