Hi Terry,
re: "Because of PostScript's two decimal place limitation..."
This is somewhat OT, but: Illustrator, in those days, might have been limited to two decimal places (I don't remember), but PostScript itself wasn't. Brian was writing directly in PostScript, so he wouldn't have run into the problem. I did the same thing, though I often used FreeHand (I was working at Aldus at the time, so using Illustrator was right out). It was definitely a step up from using rapidograph pens on mylar for drawing circuit boards.
These days, I do circuit board layout in either Eagle or DesignSpark. But, in keeping with the "use the wrong tool" theme, I'll admit that I do all of my design for CNC in InDesign (if anyone needs scripts for InDesign-to-g-Code, drop me a line).:-)
re [previously mentioned]: front panel layouts in Visio
Actually, I think Visio is pretty good at this. I always wanted to write some PCB layout/schematic design "smart shapes" for Visio while I was there, but never got to do it. That was in the days of Windows 3.x--by the time I got back to synth-building, good, free PCB layout tools existed.
Thanks,
Ole
