I think Dave's method is frankly insane but a Neat Hack.

As long as people are trying something different and happy with the results
they get, it's all good.

I fall in Dave's camp of insanity too.   I don't make PCBs at home - I build
everything on pad-per-hole board ;)   

I also find it therapeutic
