But seriously, I recently brought a whiteface Odyssey back from the dead.
Here's what I did:  I disconnected the power supply, plugged it in, and
checked all the voltages to make sure that it was somewhere close to +/-15V.
In fact, it was very close, and I was able to bring it to +/-15.00V with a
couple small adjustments of the trimmers.  It held those voltages for
several minutes.  At that point, I figured it was safe to reconnect it and
fire up the synth.  All was fine, and all continues to be fine.

I am going through the stuff in my garage.  I have several vintage synths -
some worth quite a bit now - and they haven't been powered in at least 5
years.
What would you recommend - advancing on a Variac, or just plug it in?
