Some of the more expensive digital oscilloscopes with "digital phosphor 
emulation" (or whatever their marketing team chose to call it,) can work 
well for drawing graphics in X/Y mode.  Unfortunately many of the cheap 
digital scopes just plot the sample points as dots in X/Y mode and make no 
effort to join up the dots!
