[sdiy] Minimoog Query - Decay pots

Hi,
A friend brought round a Minimoog Model D as he thought there was
something wrong with the Decay (Amp Contour) - he described it as
jumping suddenly from off to on.
This was a Mini which he'd picked up recently and had been serviced
recently.
On closer testing - the Decay appeared to have a dead-spot around 10
o'clock where it would jump up to long decay [and, actually, the times
beyond 1s seemed overly long].
I also then checked the Filter Contour Decay - and this seemed to have a
dead-spot but more like 8 o'clock.
Having a quick look inside (time limits) things looked very clean so I
wondered if people can comment on whether it sounds like the pots have
all been changed on the unit.
The ones here looked brand new - AB type J-type (1M) -- do you think
these'd be originals?
I didn't have suitable cleaner (and no time/desire to disassemble) so..
tested a bit with a multimeter and did seem to find the dead-spots.
But then on reassembly both controls seemed to work well! So.. anyone
had similar experiences?
The apparent dead-spot behaviour made me think it was pot problem rather
than interconnect issues. Perhaps it was just dirt which was dislodged
by many turnings.
Still curious as to whether these pots would be originals or replacements.
Any ideas or comments?
Ta! Tom
