[sdiy] Midi 3.5mm cable

Hi,

I wish to add Midi to a product but want to avoid the huge DIN 
connector. Someone turned me on to some cables that are male DIN to 
stereo 3.5mm. I landed one but when I beeped it out to determine the 
connections I get something weird:

Tip: pin 3

Ring: pin 5

Sleeve: pin 2

Anyone know what is going on here?
