A innovative musical instrument always would be a new interface. So: get 
a Haken and reappear after five years again - that will be the time it 
takes your jaw to recover from slapping down to the floor.

If you think of "innovative" soundgeneration, then have a look at 
Oliviers product range. I bought some weeks go a Mutible Instruments 
"Elements" and it is that impressive that I still did not touch the Korg 
Minilogue I received last Friday for testing...
