There is no correct shape for envelope on a synth. The player decides
what is correct and uses what he/she likes. Any kind of pitch modulation
is fine to me, as long at some point a tune can be distinguished. I'm
not even touching the blip-blop type of music mostly made with modulars
on youtube.
As far ADSR goes, the only correctness I can notice is to normalize
Sustain level to 0, so tune during sustain is the same as without EG
modulation. This way it can start from lower or upper pitch, and go
there again on release. Best if ADSR can be bipolar, or rest/release
level can be adjusted independently of attack level.
