Because dictionaries don't list email addresses, they list words. Not all email addresses are words.
Besides, you're talking about unconfirmed email addresses. Sure, anybody can generate a bunch of unconfirmed email addresses, send messages to them all, and make a note of which ones bounce. But that's no good because mail server software is smarter than that now.
There is far more value in a list of active, confirmed email addresses, as opposed to just making up random email addresses from a dictionary. Harvesting from an active site is worth money.
… but it seems that the point is moot, because I get the impression that the majority are in favor of retaining MailMan and not using Google or Yahoo.
