Freescale (Now NXP) built DSP’s, MPU’s, MCU’s . Some Analogue ( Power Management), whereas ON got all the Mixed signal, Linear, Bipolar and so forth( about a Billion Dollars revenue) while it was Motorola Semiconductor. I had a great time sampling myself parts for project design when it was all Motorola Semi. The best Radio Shack ever for an Audio / Systems design guy.
But all things come to an end eventually. I was retired from Motorola/Freescale after 28 years. I bought a good deal of their test gear though when they were closing up labs.
Still I use a good deal of thru hole parts that I hampstered over the years. Let me know if you have a problem finding stuff.
regards,
Terry
