Sine outputs are awesome.

You can add a sine wave to the signal pre-VCA but after the filter so 
that the fundamental of the note you are playing is always reinforced - 
even if you are high pass filtering another waveform from the same VCO.

You can add (or subtract) the sine waveform to your other chosen 
waveform to create more (or less) powerful sounds. Again sine seems to 
work better for this - or at least gives you more predictable results.

Sinewave sounds better than triangle when modulating PWM at low 
frequencies and, at high frequencies, the pitch of another VCO.

Even a complex sine convertor circuit is a lot simpler than a tracking 
filter.
