I think, Achim has a point here. At work I have been using leadfree solder with silver for hand soldering for some years by now. In a blind test, I don't think I could tell it from leaded solder. Any idea why silver is important? The salespeople keep telling us that lead-free, silver-free solder is just as good. Of course it’s much cheaper than soldewr containing silver.

There’s braid made for leadfree solder. It is silver-coloured instead of brass-coloured. Work *much* better, for removing leeded solder too.
