Usually the receivers mailserver should recognize such doublettes, if 
they arrive within a certain timeframe. The problem is assumingly, that 
the mail over the mail-list takes longer than the direct mail. If this 
time difference exceeds the mentioned timeframe, then the receivers 
mailserver won't see those as doublettes and will deliver both mails.

I have that more often on AH than on synth-diy.
