That is so sad true. In the past electronics was about pen+paper and 
soldering fumes. Today I spend long hours a day before monitor screen. 
This damn thing is even hard-mounted in the center of my view in working 
area.
Long gone are the times when I could clearly read 0603 markings with 
naked eye.
Although I try to quickly shift focus as you say, the view doesn't 
really change, it's like those "focus-free" cheap cameras, but usable 
range is only from 30 to 100cm.

So kids, do not believe that soldering fumes are bad for your health. 
What is really bad is those damn computers, but without them I'd have to 
write this in hundreds of letters and go to the post office.
