Glaring at a computer screen all day (or attending to many other
"modern" "activities") makes the focusing muscles less flexible than
they should be. This inflexibility adds to the more natural problems
that most people get when getting older. Many of us probably keep
eye-focus at almost exactly the same distance (or two distances - the
computer screen and the cellphone) for more than 50% of the daytime,
which is kind of scary.

They say that it's good to exercise your eyes several times a day by
quickly shifting focus between close objects, far objects and things
inbetween for a little while. Having access to window instead of just
adjacent walls in sight should be positive in this regard.

/mr - with annoyingly bad near-sight capabilities these days,
especially on one eye o_O

It's not comfortable at all, and only sensible for (very) short periods, when you would need some magnification. As I said, the depth of vision is very short, things are only sharp 20-30 cm, and you must not even try to look at anything else than your work when wearing these.
