Yes. This is why retail sales of reading glasses is illegal in some places (not here). The next time you see your eye doctor you should tell him/her about the problem and get a pair of glasses made especially for close work. Multifocals don’t work for me (strabismus—eyes out of sync) so I have a “single vision” pair just for working at the computer. I have to swap glasses when I switch tasks but at least I can see.
It’s more expensive but you’ll be a lot better off. As for me I’m a special case. I’ve had glasses since I was 3-1/2. No surface mount work for me.

Just be careful not to use too much light. I worked for a company that replaced all the dual 40W fluorescent fixtures over our workstations with four tube fixtures which was one tube too many. They didn’t do their homework. 8)
