Lighting is indeed very important, I experienced this recently at a workshop (at
the DIY synth convention in Tilburg), it was very hard to put a kit together
simply because the light level was so much lower than at my bench at home.
I use a DIY light at home, I have mounted two of these:

Mounted in an aluminium U-channel with a switch and a 25V power supply, because
of the lack of confidence in the spec, I do not run them at 2x18W. I think I
have about 0.5A at 25V now, so about 10-12W in total. Plenty bright. And the LED
modules seem to be holding up just fine, U-channel is warm but not hot.
I've actually ordered a couple more to use in the shed, bin the fluorescent
lighting which is there now, and replace it with LED based lighting. Thinking of
upping the power to about 12W per module. Higher and they will be smoking hot.
Regards,
Jarno.
