Currently working with TI MSP430 (and MSP432 to be started).

When I started the MSP430 Launchpad development board with two
processors was $4.30. The development IDE is a free download and at the
time I could get free samples.

I bought a few development boards and went from there.

The MSP430 is available from mouser, with 14 and 20 pin dips, even if I
have to buy some they are inexpensive.

The MSP430 is a 16 bit processor. The MSP432 is a 32 bit processor with
more capabilities than the TI 99/4 and RS CoCos I started on.

I haven't done much with the MSP432 yet, to much else on the bench.

Booth launchpad kits are still available from TI.
