SSM had a history of supplying ICs (they were fab-less and contracted
IC out fabrication) that are not compliant to their specs. SCI had to
do 100% verification testing for their P-5s because of this. The
reject rate got bad enough that they switched to CEM.
Yes I know the 2044 was not used in the P-5.
