Actually, I do worry. I even collect the bits of wire I cut off, also of R's, D's, etc, and blobs of solder on my workbench and keep them. When I take old electronic equipment to the disposal facility (e-waste is taken good care of here, NL), I hand in that stuff, too.
Anything that you so not want in your own garden you cannot dump down the sink.
