[sdiy] Which solder is safer for home projects ?

I always get amazed at the lengths you all apparently go to during this type of thread; soldering, ok, but then washing and de-fluxing, and rubbing with this, that, and the other.

I just solder the bits in the board and leave it. It's never failed me. I've got pedals that I made over 25 years ago that work fine. If they look a bit crummy to me now, it's more because my soldering and board-making technique has improved quite a bit since those early days than any more technical reason.

Do I *really* *actually* need to worry about any of this stuff?

(I'm not thinking of the health issues so much as the solder cleaning. If I want to improve my health, that's simple: eat better drink less, exercise more, same as everyone else ;) !!)
