Or another fun an easy way Is to get a hold of an old SW radio that allows VLF reception

The icom r71a was my first introduction to sw, and if you simply dial the tuner past 29.999mhz it starts over at zero

I went on to get my HF ham license based on the fun I was having building VHF , VLF and HF radios

Search around for DIY VLF radio project and you can find many many schematics out there for projects which don't take much work

However unless you live in a remote area , you won't get to hear too many of the NATURAL VLF signals as they seem to be covered up by all of mans creations !!!

OP: contact me off list if you need a few VLF project schematics
