[sdiy] Microcontrollers for eurorack use... What to use?

I don't know if anyone else uses it, but I played with Rowley Crossworks 
for ARM and the licensing reminded me of Eagle CAD ( as in very 
reasonable). They have a ton of board support packages for various eval 
boards and other development platforms.
