Log potentiometers are used in all analogue ADSR-style envelope circuits
that I know. So the "feeling right" on the SH-09 is a fine example for
the second aspect in my mail: The parameter dimension of the envelope is
right. As I wrote: "Also here Roland were masters".

No it is a kind of "double log" taper.
(this makes me think that it would be a nice try to use a stereo
potentiometer connected in series)
