[sdiy] Circuit thermometer / temperature measurement

Hi!
I am also using the oistol-shaped IR thermometers. The laser itself is only for pointing purposes so that you know which target you measure.
Of course you have to take into account that there is a little shift at very near distances as the laser sits below the IR chip...
You can buy the IR thermometer at different distributors for about 30 to 80 Euros, via Ebay from China starting from 7.- UKP

I have both versions (Tenma 72-823 and a cheap Chinese one), and they work both fine...
Ciao

I have a faint picture in my mind where Kent Spong used a pistol-shaped laser thermometer to measure the temperature of chips to track down the faulty one.
In the caption he claimed it's quite accurate. Price was in the 30UKP range, IIRC.
But then again it's still just the surface temperature that's measured.
