I use frequency range in multimeter for "span" tuning as it's easy to
divide any number by 2 without care for absolute value, then roughly
tune "A" to about +/-50 cents, and then use function generator as audio
source going to the mixer together with a synth to tune by beating. If
there is 2nd VCO in the synth, obviously I match it to the first one by
ear without any other reference. This seems a lot of work when I wrote
about it, but it's not that hard really, and even a bit of fun.
And I always use internal keyboard to control VCOs while tuning,
keyboard of course gets calibrated first.
But for tuning a guitar, with all that fancy equipment at hand, I found
most pleasing to use free tuner app on my phone.
