[sdiy] ARP Odyssey operations

A friend of mine & I are trying to figure out how to get his new ARP Odyssey to produce sounds via its keyboard like other analog synthesizers but we're having the hardest time in getting it to respond. We tried the owners manual but are still not having any luck. What is the secret to setting the switches & sliders to get a response like you would from any other hard-wired analog synth ?
