Hi Maarten!

Yes, of course with Filter it is much better, but I don't solder that much at home...
Important is that the fan shall not blow in your direction - it should suck away the smoke.
It sounds clear but I have seen DIY solution where this was not so...

There is also a difference between rosin core fluxes. 
Once I bought 3 rolls that had a very aggressive smoke that I had to caugh in seconds after soldering.

I only used that rolls only for outdoor service tasks - not when soldering in buildings.

Hello Peter and Florian,

I have been using this method as well, but lately I get short of breath
after some soldering. At first I only had this with Lead Free fluxes but
now I also have it with normal rosin core flux. So I think it is a good
idea to have some filtering as well.
