My solution is similar to Florians solution:
Also a processor fan powered with 5V instead of 12, mounted on a gooseneck.
The gooseneck is mounted on a stand where another gooseneck hold a USB microscope
For SMD solder joint inspection.

About smoke ;-) :
I simply use a small processor fan held by a "third hand" (in fact by an old desk lamp arm - like this one:

The fan is intended for 12 V and I supply it with 5V. It still has enough power to suck away the smoke, but it is really quiet at this low speed.
