About smoke ;-) :

I simply use a small processor fan held by a "third hand" (in fact by an 
old desk lamp arm - like this one: 
http://www.savethestreaker.com/sites/default/files/styles/product_listing_13_11/public/8%20Blue%20Ikea%20Desk%20Lamp.png). 
The fan is intended for 12 V and I supply it with 5V. It still has 
enough power to suck away the smoke, but it is really quiet at this low 
speed.
