When I saw the subject "Probes and Smoke" I thought it was going to be a 
post about clipping the scope probe ground (earth) clips onto the wrong 
place in a circuit! :-O

Can recommend "10073D Passive Probe, 10:1, 500 MHz, 1.5 m", from HP 
(Agilent), or Keysight... or whatever they're called this week...
