It makes sense from a studio patchbay point of view, because you have
the output of one device which flows down to the input of another
device. On the patchbay I'm looking at now I have my synth outputs on
the top row normalled to mixer inputs on the bottom row of the patchbay.
When you are talking about inputs and outputs on a single module it
would make more logical sense to have the inputs on the top and outputs
on the bottom. I personally prefer to have all sockets on the bottom,
with inputs on the left and outputs on the right.
