left to right is what we see if input/outputs are not seperated from the
potentiometers, right? seems totally natural to me, but i am coming from
doepfer/eurorack, so i might be biased.

the bottom to top can be seen on the newer serge, at least, that's how i
perceive the serge panel logic. and i struggle with it for the same reason as
you describe, aaron.
